I am very clear that my values are not situational.
When leaders join me on a journey of cultivating genuine-leader impact, my values and standards (the way I live my values day to day) don’t change from client to client or day to day. They are apparent in everything I do with and for my clients and they never change.
What guides me?
Outcomes: Where are we headed?
Authenticity: Seek and know yourself.
Kindness: Be care-full.
Relationships: Know who is around you.
Peace: Practice acceptance. Repeat.
Where are we headed?
I will always seek the desired outcome first. We will talk about outcomes a lot in our work together. Knowing your desired outcomes, and why they are important to you, is the guiding star of how I help you get from where you are to where you want to be. You cannot map a path if you do not know your starting and ending points. Genuine-leader impact relies upon the ability to mindfully understand and know the outcomes you’re trying to achieve both in the long term and the day-to-day.
Seek and know yourself.
It is possible to harmonize your own convictions, your authenticity, with business and organizational realities to achieve success. I believe the way we create genuine-leadership impact is by first tapping into our own authentic selves, as leaders and as humans.
Be care-full.
Kindness is non-negotiable for me and I agree with Brené Brown’s belief that being clear is being kind . I practice direct communication in my coaching. Direct is also kind. And directness for me means being real, being honest, being candid, and doing that with empathy, compassion, insight, and care. I will do you a disservice as your coach if I am not clear with you. And you will do yourself and your team a disservice as a leader if you are not clear with yourself.
Know who is around you.
Relationships are the way things get done. The key to being a genuine-impact leader lies in improving your current work relationships and creating new ones, up, down, and across your organization. Many of my clients want to better understand the corporate power base, how decisions get made, and leverage influence with their team and C-suite leaders in their organizations. One thing that’s important to remember is that relationships and influencing are not about you, their success hinges on listening and meeting the other person where they are. A good coach knows this inside and out. Your time with me is 100% about you, and me meeting you exactly where you are, so we can get where you want to go.
Practice acceptance. Repeat.
Getting grounded in your own authenticity, and practicing acceptance of yourself, of the limitations of your organization and of those around you, is a key step in finding harmony in the chaos that surrounds you. With acceptance comes peace and the personal and professional clarity to succeed in a way that feels true to yourself. When we realize we cannot change all the things, we can focus and affect significant change where it most counts, for ourselves, our teams, and our organizations.
Would you like to be more connected, in each moment, to your own values as a leader? We should talk.
